As the proximity sensor Sharp GD2D120 component has been used.  It can be rotated by Hitec HS-50 servo .

Look the robot in the eyes!  One "eye" is emitting infrared light and the second one is detecting reflection from an object.   GD2D120 gives an analog output voltage depending on distance from object.
The sensor can make 90 degree turn left and right since is mounted on top of servo.
