Toy as a source of parts
|
Unfortunately we had problems to find good wheels, which could be used
to properly lead the band. We didn't want to spend big bucks for
the experiments. Then the best place to find cheap wheels is a "dollar
store" where the cars for $1 have a lot of interesting
parts. For example the tractor... |

Wheels disassembled and prepared for
alerations.
|
We cut one axle on one side and removed plastic
"tires". |

Single wheel made from two tractor
wheels.
|
Two tractor wheels glued together will make one robot wheel. |

Wheels nearly ready to assemble
|
OK. Now we have nearly everything to assemble one side of the
suspension: motor, wheels and a plate. |
|

Brass tubing as bearings.
|
Thin brass pipes will be used as bearings. The interesting
technique is used to cut the long tubing into smaller pieces. |

Brass tubing as bearings.
|
Lets solder the brass tubing for bearings. Make sure that they are perpendicular to
the surface of the plate. |

Suspension assembled
|
Using two small screws we are able to thigh the motor to the plate.
The axles of the wheels are fixed with a small drop of a glue. I
this case Duco Cement has been used. |
