The last view of May 2002

bulletThe main achievement in May is gaining a knowledge about building robot task complexity based on the books and mainly the Internet (Q1).  It is long way from dreams to real working robot.  Certain cases of micro-robot construction have been studied.
bulletStill far goal is not fully described (Q2).  The nearest goal is to have an autonomous micro-robot, which is able to wander on a desk avoiding obstacles and not falling over the desk edge :o).
bulletBasic elements of mechanical design are determined (Q3). The robot will be moving on two track-like elements independently propelled by small DC motors (Q6).  Using tracks is essential on non-flat surface of our desktop overloaded by papers and electronic components.
bulletSelection process of MPU is completed (Q4.1). PIC microcontrollers family have been chosen mainly because of cost efficiency, ability to upload a program without removing MCU from a circuit, and availability of Serial Peripheral Interface.
